Biography

Dr. Collin Sakal is an Assistant Professor at the City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) where he leads the Healthy Aging Data Science Group. His research lab aims to better understand and promote healthy aging by analyzing wearable device data, including sleep, physical activity, and circadian rhythm data from smart watches. 

Dr. Sakal completed his PhD in Data Science in 2025 at the City University of Hong Kong where he was funded by the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS), holds a master’s degree in Health Data Science from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), and holds a bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Mathematics from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
