Abstract

The crystallization parameters of new easy glass forming Mg75Ni20Nd5 and Mg65Ni20Nd15 alloys with large supercooled liquid regions were determined isothermally by DSC. The Avrami exponent n as well as the associated activation energy E for crystallization were found to be different at heating temperatures near the glass transition temperature Tg and crystallization temperature Tx. This result indicates a difference in crystallization mechanism for these glasses in these different temperature ranges.
