Abstract
In this paper, an eight-element shaped-beam-pattern microstrip antenna array for the base station in a mobile communication system has been designed. A cosecant pattern in the main beam which allows a constant power distribution in the service zone is achieved by feeding linearly varied amplitudes and phases into elements of the array. The array operates at 27.5 GHz, and a tilt angle of about 20° from the broadside is obtained. The sidelobes are on the order of -10 dB, and the cross-polarization level is about -20 dB.
