Abstract

Planar optical waveguides in z-eut LiNhO, (LN) substrates have been fabricated using the proton-exchange(PE) process. The effective refractive indices of different guided modes before and after annealing were measured at different wavelengths. The dispersion characteristics of the effective refractive indices can be described by a sellmeier-like equation, and there is an excellent agreement between the measured data and the values calculated using the equation.
