Abstract

Single mode waveguide operating at 1550 nm wavelength has been fabricated in lithium niobate using gallium ions indiffusion. Extraordinary and ordinary refractive indices are increased supporting TM and TE modes, respectively, and the diffusivity of gallium is one order of magnitude higher than that of titanium.
