Abstract
A ternary phase has been found in the rare-earth (RE) and transition metal Nd33Fe50Al17 system. The phase could be identified with a tetragonal structure with the lattice parameters of a = 9.778 angstroms and c = 11.516 angstroms. The composition of the phase was tentatively estimated to be Nd5(Fe3Al)12.
