摘要

This paper presents the numerical simulation methodology to investigate the spudcan penetration effect. Based on a practical design, a full three dimensional finite element model, which includes an inclined pile embedded in the foundation and a spudcan resting on top of the seabed, is built. With a proper mathematical model being used to represent the soils, the penetration procedure has been simulated vividly with the aid of a non-linear, dynamic finite element code. Through the simulation, the changes of soil pressure, increment of stress level of the pile, lateral deformation of the pile have been obtained. Consequently, safety check on the pile has been carried out and the foundation capacity has been evaluated as well. The conclusions may potentially be taken as guidance to help the wellhead platform designers and jack-up rig operators. copyright
