摘要

The application of frequency up-conversion in rare earth (Yb3+) and Ho3+ co-doped tellurite glass for multilayered optical storage has been investigated. A multilayered storage stack with a high signal-to-noise ratio and low cross-talk has been demonstrated. This scheme offers the possibility of a many-fold increase in storage capacity. In addition, since the up-conversion effect is dependent on the square of the intensity of the pump beam, it is possible that the effective spot size of the signal region will be significantly smaller than that limited by diffraction, leading to super-resolution in the storage layer and the further increase of storage density.
