摘要
Effect of oxygen on the phase formation and thermal stability of Zr50·75(Cu90Ni10)40·25Al9 bulk metallic glass (BMG) has been systematically studied. Our results show that τ3 phase (Zr50Cu29Ni2Al19 intermetallics) can be formed when the oxygen level reaches 350 ppm and its morphology changes from an undeveloped dendritic to dendritic structure with increasing oxygen content. It is demonstrated that oxygen is mainly concentrated in τ3 phase. Microstructure characterization indicates that τ3 phase possesses a face-centered cubic structure and its lattice parameter increases with increasing oxygen content. These findings would aid the development of Zr-based BMGs with industrial grade materials for commercial application.
